After many demolitions, a lot of constructions to define the new town also occurred and the area outside the town center became the most representative of the latest events.

In 1924 along the main boulevard that we see in Fermignano nowadays, which is called via Veneto, viale delle “rimembranze” was inaugurated with a plane trees orchard. A monument to remember the 78 victims of the war between 1915/1918 was collocated there. It is a work of the Bolognese sculptor and medalist Giuseppe Romagnoli (1872-1966).

The bronze monument represents a naked warrior while he’s falling and holding in his left hand a little winged victory and a dagger in the right one. Then the public gardens became a significant place for the modern life, a meeting place but also a symbol of the new urban aesthetics. Today the memorial is a meeting place for young people who have little awareness of the importance of the place they frequent.
